Chef Julio Avila
From an early age, Chef Julio discovered that art was more than a hobby — it was the lens through which he saw the world. He was captivated by color, texture, balance, and beauty, whether on a canvas or a plate. His love for taste, aroma, nature, and composition eventually revealed what he now knows was always true: food is art.
After beginning a Bachelor’s Degree in Painting, Chef Julio felt drawn to explore another medium for creativity, one that blended technique, science, and sensory experience. That path led him to the Culinary Arts, where he found his true calling. He went on to graduate from The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York, in 1997, and spent the years that followed honing his craft in renowned four- and five-star resorts across the United States and Puerto Rico.
In 2011, inspired by a desire to bring his personal vision of hospitality and artistry to life, Chef Julio founded The Hometown Chef Catering Co. What began as a creative pursuit has grown into a celebrated Houston catering company known for its chef-driven menus, warm service, and unforgettable event experiences.
